Through the ages, man has always harnessed the power of the wind. It is an inexhaustible energy source found everywhere on our planet. The interest in renewable sources of energy is rapidly increasing around the world and wind energy is a fast growing energy source offering enormous commercial potential.

At present, wind energy accounts for only a very small fraction of the world’s total production of electricity. However, all around the world more and more people are turning to renewable sources of energy. In Denmark today, 13 % of all electric energy is produced with the help of wind energy. In Sweden, this figure is currently less than 1 percent, but it is rising steadily.

By changing over to a renewable energy source, we are making an active contribution to the preservation of the environment and nature’s resources. Wind energy already complies with all existing environmental demands that should be expected of tomorrow’s energy production.

The growth of the sector has brought about rapid developments in wind energy technology that have made it possible to build and erect commercially viable large-scale wind power farms. This means the costs of producing electricity from wind energy are falling. Wind energy is also very efficient energy. For example, the energy needed to manufacture, build and phase out a wind energy plant is only 1% of the energy the plant will produce. The equivalent figure for an oil-powered plant is 12%. Today, investments in wind energy are very competitive thus offering new investment opportunities.

Tried and tested technology, consideration for the environment and financial competitiveness, all three aspects combine to make wind energy the energy source of the future.
